A bit about me

S I thought that since I had decided to turn over a new leaf in the blog posting I should give a little bit of background knowledge about myself, since I hadn't actually really done that before.

So as I am sure you could tell from earlier posts, I most recently lived in Sydney.  I have actually now moved, to Hobart in Tasmania.  It's a pretty crazy change for me actually.  My family moved here about 10 years ago and I've never felt the urge to follow them until now.  So what brought on the change I here you all ask (we'll get to my hearing voices later)?

Well basically I was in a job that I hated, so, after a breakdown in Hyde Park and some counseling by my best friends, I decided that what I ought to do is go back to uni and become a teacher.  It's something I've considered for a long time.  So without further ado, I began applying for universities.  I applied for a bunch in NSW, a couple in Melbourne and the University of Tasmania.  Why Tassie?  There are a few reasons, first of all I was a little late in my decision so I missed the cut off point for Sydney uni's so staying in Sydney and attending uni there was not a possibility.  A couple of the uni's in NSW that I applied for were via distance so I could have done that and stayed where I was, working and studying part time.  Sounds like it would have been the easiest option, but there were a few problems.

First of all, since all of my experience was in the area I was currently working in I would have had to stay in the job I hated or looked for another just like it.  Now that I'd decided to get out, I really wanted out!

Secondly, I know that I would not apply myself to my study if I was doing distance, I admire those people that can do it, but I am not one of them.

So it came down to moving to Newcastle or Tasmania.  I decided on Tas.  I lived in Newcastle during my undergrad degree and although I loved it, that was then, this is now.  I felt like I would be going backwards to move back up to Newcastle.  I needed a change, I was getting antsy in Sydney and I didn't think Newcastle would provide the change I needed.

So here I am in Hobart, struggling with my Masters of Teaching, which I am loving, but finding the assignments pretty hard.  Mostly I think because they are quite different to those I did when doing arts and also it's been a while.

And that pretty much brings us up to date!

Have a great Monday!
